This image surfaced while searching for another item. It depicts a 1930 Morris Minor Tourer (ET 6050) with long-term Minor and MG enthusiast Jim Peacop at the wheel taking part in a VSCC rally (?). The image is almost certainly a scan of a non-digital photograph. Can anyone help with identifying when this image was taken along with its location and event?

The Network’s fourteenth rally will be based upon Chard in Somerset, England and is scheduled to take place over the weekend of 7th-9th June 2024. Chris and Sue Hipwood, our rally hosts, have put together a full program of activities including our traditional Saturday and Sunday tours. These will take in a meander through the world renowned Somerset Levels and the outstanding Blackdown Hills. An entry form can be found here, while an accommodation list is here. It should be noted that all of the rally’s social gatherings will be taking place at The Hornsbury Mill where accommodation is also available. If you are intending to stay at the mill, then it is advisable to book early and specifically quote the Minor Rally when doing so. There are just 30 rally entry slots available, so to avoid disappointment please get your entry form in quickly.
Here is yet another photograph of Oxford registered 1930 Morris Minor Coachbuilt Saloon WL 9868. This carefully staged image looks like a father and son shot which may also have been taken on the same Welsh holiday as the photo seen in IOTW no.727. The remarkably unhelpful single word caption on its reverse simply states ‘Wales’.
The North West London Motor Club were the organisors of their Lawrence Cup Trial, which in the late Thirties was held on MOD land at Bagshot Heath, Surrey. This photo of a 1933 Wolseley Hornet Special (AXC 181 driver unknown) was taken on 20th May 1939 and shows the car cresting a climb with just a solitary marshall in attendance. Had this been a scene from a trial held just a few years earlier huge crowds would have lined the course. However, with war imminent, controversial trial regulation changes in place, public appetite for these events had rapidly faded. (LAT Plate C17330 – Courtesy of Motorsport Images)
