The Cumbrian Lakes and Dales

Among the several hundred pre-war Morris Minor owners across the U.K. and beyond, are a select few who are brave enough to raise a hand when asked to volunteer to organise the Network’s annual rally. The task is challenging and can consume a significant portion of the individual’s free time during the months leading up to the event. Just one of the conundrums to solve is where to hold the rally dinner. Can the venue seat 60 people, let alone feed them or have space for their parked cars? There are many other issues to resolve, not least of which are the tour routes. How can they be made interesting while largely keeping to the lanes and byeways? And so it goes on …

Garry and Marilyn Waiting are old hands at this rally game. Down the years, they have organised over 20 such rallies for the M.G. community. So, when they jointly raised their arms to volunteer to host the 2025 PWMN rally, hesitation was not an option. And so it came to pass that the rally took place without a (visible) hitch. The Crooklands Hotel was an inspired choice as the rally HQ, the scenery was idyllic, the rally dinner was excellent, while even Tuesday’s rain couldn’t spoil the fun. Best of all, the camaraderie and friendship among those present were clear for all to see. Hopefully, the photos in the galleries below clearly illustrate that point.
