A family outing in ‘the Morris’ was a big event in the 30’s and 40’s, certainly an occasion to warrant the expenditure of at least a frame or two of film. Here a Stewart & Ardern supplied 1932 Morris Minor Saloon (MU 3715) provides the centre point around which the family gather, while a fifth family member operates the shutter of their camera. Seeing bald tyres adorning family vehicles on these pre and early post-war snapshots appears to be the ‘norm’… What is that on the saloon’s roof, just above the rear-view mirror?
