Chris Garner from the pre-war Austin Seven community sent this image of VO 4137, a 1930 Morris Minor Coachbuilt Saloon. The car was registered in Nottingham and belonged to the gentleman seated on the door cill. Chris writes: “Gent in the car is a Frederick Reavill, ( 1876 – 1947 ) from Nottingham. Nicknamed the Water Rat, he was famous for saving people from drowning in local rivers and ponds – 29 in total! Fred was the publican of the Jolly Angler, situated on the Canal Side of the Beeston Canal, close to its joining the Trent. ( Beeston – a suburb of Nottingham. ) I don’t think the building exists today – swallowed up by housing.”
