There are many 30s postcard images of Camber Sands, all with very similar views of family cars parked on the beach with awnings or tents erected alongside the vehicles, with families picnicking. Precisely when an outright beach ban came into force is not clear, but the local bylaws prohibiting vehicle access are now strictly enforced. We know that this photograph was taken post-1931, as the unidentified Morris Minor in the foreground is a 1931 season SV Coachbuilt Saloon, identifiable from its OHC counterparts by its lack of bumpers, raised headlamps, painted radiator and screen surrounds.
