More images from two recent events have been added to the 2022 Events Galleries page here. Scroll to the foot of the page to view the most recent photos.
Thank to Toby Sears a three page leaflet on the Armstrong hydraulic shock-absorber, of the type fitted to the 1934 season Minors, is now available to view in the website’s Member’s Area, Technical Bits section. It can be found under the ‘Axles, wheels, steering & suspension’ sub-menu. Although rather dog eared, the ducument is a particularly useful addition to the archive.
Over 70 images taken at the recent 2022 Pre-war Minor Network Rally in Suffolk can now be found either via the ‘Events’ tab or through this link
The 8th May 1931 edition of the Auto Motor Journal provided a pre-race build-up for it’s readers of the 1931 JCC Double-Twelve Race, despite the fact that the race had already started that very morning. None-the-less it lists all the ‘runners and riders’ while also providing much background information. The article can now be found in the document archive at the foot of the Auto Motor Journal page within the Member’s Area.
The Autocar ran a sequence of articles entitled “The care & maintenance of ……”. Two of these currently reside in the Member’s Area under ‘Everything else’ (MG Midget, Wolseley Hornet) and these have been joined by two further PDFs covering both the OHC & S.V. Morris Minors. This completes the series for our cars.
Although far from unique, the pre-war Morris Minor was designed with a central throttle pedal and was one of the latest vehicles to feature this arrangement prior to the universal switch to the righthand side of the footwell. Peter Brock has prepared detailed drawings of this arrangement on his 1934 Morris Minor Four-door Saloon, along with photographs. These now appear in PDF form in the Member’s Technical Bits section, under Instruments & Controls.
There are plenty of articles in the website’s archive covering the maintenance of the SU carburettor, but few as easy to read and understand as this 1934 Light Car item entitled, “The controllable-jet SU”. The article can be found in the Member’s Area, Technical Bits section, under ‘Carburation & Fuel’.
Images from the recent VSCC LC&ES section’s annual Welsh Weekend have been added to the foot of the 2022 Event Galleries page here. With thanks to Mike Tebbett for the photography.
