Triple M Corner no.343

By August 19, 2024Triple M corner

The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.

The majority of off-road competition for cars in the 1930s was restricted to reliability trials, although dirt track racing was beginning to make its mark. In some respects this form of competition was a half-way house between the popular trials and true circuit racing as seen at Brooklands and Donington Park.  Here at a venue in Surrey in September 1933 an M.G. Midget, an Alta, a Singer Nine and an Austin Seven Ulster create clouds of dust as they speed away from the start and begin to ascend a steep incline. (LAT photoscan courtesy of Motorsport Images)
