Triple M Corner no.345

By September 10, 2024Triple M corner

The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.

The 1933 Inter-Varsity Trial took place in the Chiltern Hills on the Buckinghamshire – Oxfordshire borders during the month of November that year. According to Motor Sport magazine the conditions were far from ideal for serious trialing as surfaces were dry and virtually hazard free. Here Cambridge University competitor H.H. Oak Rhind comfortably climbs one of the observed sections in his 1933 MG J2 Midget (AKE 212) before stopping for lunch in the Lambert Arms at Aston Rowant, Oxon (LAT Collection photo C2270 – courtesy of Motorsport Images)
