Triple M Corner no.346

By September 15, 2024Triple M corner

The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.

In October 1930 two former RAF officers (Captain Max Hay RFC  and W.E. Wolveridge) started out from the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London on an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in their 1930 MG Midget (RX 7367). They were sponsored by the Shell Oil Company who were to provide fuel throughout their 25,000 mile journey. It is known the duo successfully reached Baghdad via a report in a January 1931 edition of The Auto Motor Journal but nothing is known of their subsequent journey or fate. This collection of images and newspaper cuttings have been assembled over two decades in an attempt to record details of their epic adventure.
