The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.
This interesting action photograph was taken on Saturday 6th October 1934 at Donington Park. The race in question was the 10 Lap Handicap. Here this quintet is headed up by R.J.W. Appleton in his Riley engined Appleton Special, closely followed by Dunphee and Allen in their supercharged MG Midgets while Don Parish in his 747cc Austin racer and C.A. Richardson in his Riley are at the rear. Despite trailing here, Richardson went on to win the race with Allen finishing second. The fastest lap was claimed by Peter Skinner in his Red Minor Skinner Special at 62.05 mph before he ignominiously ran out of fuel six laps in.
