The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.

This photograph was taken in Glasgow on a damp and dismal late January day in 1932. The two vehicles in shot were about to be flagged away to compete in the Monte Carlo Rally, Glasgow being one of the multiple starting-point venues available to competitors. D.H. Noble entered his Hillman Wizard (VC 9680) and was unusually towing an Eccles touring caravan, a facility which the driver and co-driver would use as their sleeping accommodation on their long journey south. G.W.J.H. Wright on the other hand was travelling light in his MG C Type Montlhery Midget (GP 2913) the crew’s belongings strapped to the C Type’s boot lid. As far as can be ascertained neither crew featured in the results. {LAT plate B7496 courtesy of Motorsport Images)
