The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.
WASA held their 1934 Chiltern Trial on Sunday, 4th March. This LAT Collection photograph was taken before its start and captures an MG J2 Midget (OY 6988 no.27) undergoing a wheel change outside the ‘Signing On’ facility. The names of OY 6988’s crew are not known, but many of the famous names in the pre-war trialling world did compete and were among a 50-strong field. Also competing were four Morris Minors driven by Dicks, Greenleaf, Bond and Miss J. deMattos, respectively.
