The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.
The Ards TT was a gruelling event run over 35 laps of the 13.5-mile circuit, a six-hour-plus test for both man and machine. At this point in the 1934 event (held on 1st September that year), George Eyston (no.25) was ahead of the eventual winner, Charlie Dodson (no.27), both driving MG N-Type Magnettes. Unfortunately for Eyston, his MG suffered terminal engine problems on lap 30, forcing him to retire the car. (LAT Collection – Motor magazine image)
