The Triple M series of MG’s all belong to a family of models that commenced with the 1929 MG Midget and continued through to the mid-thirties via a long string of four and six cylinder OHC engined cars that forged the marques identity.
The 1933 La Coupe Internationale Des Alpes (or the Alpine Trial) was run over five days, from 1st to 5th July, between Merano in Northern Italy and Nice, France. As its name suggests, the gruelling route took the competitors through some rough alpine terrain, across parts of Italy, Switzerland and France. MG entered a team of L Type Magnas, driven by the three Ws of Watkinson, Welch and Wisdom, who were the eventual winners of the Alpine Cup. Here L.A.
