The Leinster Motor Cycle and Car Club held a meeting on 4th August 1934 at the Skerries Circuit, Dublin, the feature event being the Leinster Trophy race. 29 cars participated, one of these being the Wolseley Hornet-based Tate Special, driven by J. Bolger. Miss Fay Taylour was the eventual winner in her 1648 cc Adler, while a similar car can be seen behind the Tate Special at the Railway Bend, a no-passing place. Sadly, Bolger’s car finished 18th and last in a race beset by many accidents and retirements. (See the full race report on page 496 of the September 1934 edition of Motor Sport magazine.
