Dealer Tom Hardman based in Skipton, North Yorkshire has recently concluded the sale of this beautiful, purportedly Salmons built, Hornet Coupe.

In the late summer of 1931 Morris announced their new model range, including a long wheel base version of the Minor which they named the Family Eight four-door Saloon. The Autocar magazine then published a large scale cut-away diagram of the new model which appears here courtesy of LAT. Glass plate negative ref. L5436 is just one of a significant number of newly discovered photographic plates uncovered during the course of the archive’s move to new premises.

A heavily laden 1932 Minor Sports Coupe RT 8431 lists to starboard while negotiating a bend among the asparagus fields of Norfolk last June while taking part in the ‘Nelson’ Rally. Cars begin to change hands more frequently at this time of year. Member Alistair Bond from Llanelli, South Wales has recently acquired Antrim registered 1930 Minor Semi-Sports IA 9142 from this website’s editor, while Tony Gamble‘s 1930 MG Midget GH 6798 will be heading south to replace the Minor.

Dateline 12th February 2016: Peter Field from Nelson on the northerly tip of South Island, New Zealand took his 1931 £100 Minor on a celebratory 85th birthday run recently and ensured his fellow motorists were aware of the occasion by way of the signs affixed to the front and rear of AT 6795.
