1930 JCC Double-Twelve page added to site

A new page has been added to the Member’s Area of the website covering MG’s first notable racing success at the JCC Double-Twelve race held at Brooklands in May 1930. It was here that a team of specially prepared MG Midgets took the team prize beating strong Austin opposition. The page contains 39 images and 7 contemporary reports along with other relevant material.

2021 Events Gallery Updated

More images have been added to the 2021 events gallery, some taken at the 3rd October ‘Far Eastern’ Pub Meet, the remainder taken by Jonathan Barwick at the recent VSCC Welsh Weekend held over the weekend of 9th & 10th October.

SU flange repair…

The contact surfaces between an SU carburettor and its manifold mounting can be easily damaged as a recent Discussion Forum topic identified. Following on from this, Joe Rayner has written a short, well illustrated article which provides a clear pathway to resolving such an issue. Entitled SU Flange Repair, it can be found in the Member’s ‘Technical Bits’ area of the site under the sub-menu ‘Carburettors & Fuel’.

What does that mean?

Not all car enthusiasts are ex-engineers or even familiar with some of the technical terminology in use. The Morris Owner magazine recognised this fact and in March 1933 published an article entitled ‘What they mean’, in which the author explains in layman’s language some of the technical features and the terminology associated with them. This article can now be found in the Member’s Area Technical Bits section under ‘Everything Else’.

Amateur Repair Work !?

The term “amateur repair work” today implies that the work in question has not been carried out to a professional standard. However, in March 1936 the Light Car magazine published an informative ten page article bearing that title to assist car owners carry out their own repairs, saving money in the process. The article consists of handy hints, tips and ‘how to’ guides that are as useful today as they were when the article was first published. Did you know that an application of a  vinegar solution on a rusted-on nut will help free it? Who needs WD40? The article can now be found in the Member’s Area Technical Bits section under ‘Everything Else’.
